Never Alone

The observatory was dark, giving way to a stunning array of constellations above. These quiet moments with Danny were Maeve’s favorite. Too often she found herself pushed to the side for women giggling like school girls.

She always tried to be nice but sometimes, like during their long awaited reunion dates, she found it hard to be accommodating.

“I love you.” Danny pulled her closer. “Hey, I wanna ask you something.”
“Of course.” Butterflies settled in her stomach. Was this it?
“I wanted to ask …”

A shrill scream cut through the dark.. “Oh my gaawwddd! It is you!”

The Art of Dying

There’s a certain beauty to life alone.
A certain finesse to the fine art of dying in no ones arms but your own.
I’ve lost count of the seconds slowly rolling into days.
Those things were never ours anyway.
It’s funny …
The noises your mind will come up with to keep time floating in oceans with little salt.
At first you know it’s just the children in your head playing.
Then you begin to doubt as shadows creep out.
Humans can die from any number of ailments …
A common cold to a lightening strike,
Historic rejection or morbid curiosity,
It’s what makes us the same.
At least that’s what they say.
Maybe I relied too much on silence in those days.

My shadows frolic through the roaring break.
They toss their hands to the wind
And dance the steps to heaven.
I don’t imagine they’ll let me live.

Art of Dying is also a song by George Harrison, not really much in common with this piece but still nice to listen to.

Delicate

Delicate words rest between us on the tips of heavy sighs. Elaborate silences decorate our  walls. In place of pictures we hold frames of dust laden time.

It’s a line to cross but something bars us back. Like a horror house of mirrors, we’re stuck with only our reflections.

Though in crowds I’ve found ways to fall out of time. In those places, dozens of blank stammering faces, I’ve never felt more alone.

Lost

I am lost
In myself,
In oceans
Of your touch,
Memories
Of your lips
Slip
From my fingers
Crashing to the floor
Like plates
On the night
You didn’t make it back.
Or pictures,
Frames ready
For our wedding,
An aisle
We never made it down.
Beyond
You and I
There’s a plan.
Why else
Would we still
Get lost
In one another’s eyes.

I Am

I am broken bloodied nails on a brick wall
The last attempt to make the world see.
I am lines and lines and lines of cocaine
Drowning the scorching pain.
I am silent screams never heard over rumbling trains
Regrets forever tied to the rusting dying tracks.
I am lanes of cars aimlessly flying towards oblivion
Wind blown and unable to turn away, no looking back.
I am thousands of black holes existing in one
Roaring, devouring every soul.
I am the oceans weaving, waving edge
Morphing, consuming, land and sky.
I am a body in a shallow grave
Eyes open, tongue split and breath spent,
I am a girl with a carefully laced valentine
Waiting, waiting, but I’m afraid this is it.

Always

I woke up today,

With your arms pulling me closer

Your hands running over my hips,

Sliding lower, teasing me as your apt to do.

I woke up to to your laugh,

Against my sighs.

Your lips on my neck

And shoulders

And lower …

Until I woke up today

Alone as always.

Capsizing Breath

Your absence sucks the warmth from these sheets,

Curling between my thigh’s, roping around my fingers

Still trembling and gasping

From gentle tugs and rasping bites

Along edges of bone and light

I am frozen on capsizing breath

Of the last words we said

While these sheets of your sighs,

Of our eyes

Forever taking one another in,

Hold me hostage, wrapping around my legs, binding my wrists,

Against the warmth you float away with.

I Dream of You …

I dream of you when I’m alone at night
When the air is cold and the moon does not light
Shadows flash framed against window panes
Remind me of gentle scratching rains
Under which you tried to dig my grave
You were weak and I was far from brave
In those woods where our trembling eyes met
You begged me not to make you do this yet
In my dreams the trees scream for me
Mounds of dirt rise up, making you see
Those are only dreams when I’m alone at night
When the moon is old and the air falls light
Into spaces between my time exposed bones
Where you left me, forever naked and alone

People-itis

I ventured out to the world
On this Saturday.
What the fuck was I thinking?
People would be asleep?
Good news from the battle front,
They have a cure!
For people-itis,
Mine and yours.
Just a small charge
(Spoiler: It’s your first born)
And you can cart it home
To be alone no more.

Noisy Journal Writing

Noise

This is stuff I found written in an old journal. I typed it up here but never published so it’s been hanging out as a draft for about a year.

How many tears have you cried
Waiting for mine?
Twist your bones, peel away
Scars of old, open on their own.
You’ve always been alone
Watching the world in slow motion.
You’ve never heard the screams
Even when they were your own.

Twist the knife
Ever slow
Make me yours
Take it by force
Worse than hate
Is the apathy
Push me down
Make me feel
Worthless.

I’ll lay in the mud
Face down
Drowning
Just to make me feel
Twist the knife
Cut just right

I remember the way you feel
In my dreams
Slow and deliberate
Why didn’t you speak?
Why didn’t we speak?

The buzzing is loud.
There are a thousand flies on one body alone.
Not counting the thousands more,
Bodies I mean.
It’s done, in a blaze of glory,
The world was razed.
Now it’s ready.
All the flies,
Swarming a blank slate.
The buzzing drowns everything else out.
I can’t hear you scream,
I’m too busy watching the world burn.
Not that we ever cared anyway.
Not that you ever cared anyway.
Tell me a thousand lies,
One for every fly.
Give me just one reason.
Not that you ever cared anyway.
