Fall Away From Time (Repost)

Silence sounds like …
Your spirit spinning
Out of control to the DJ.
Your breath slowing
In puffs of hazy cigarette smoke.
Your heart pounding
Under the soft weight of my hand.
Your smile against
My hair under the cold moon.
The fading drops
Of my rocks failing to skip.
Your fingers drawing
Shivering lines down my back.
Silence sounds like …
All those things I feel in my soul
When your eyes lock with mine
And we fall away from time.

I couldn’t let love day go by without something!

I’m in the final weeks of my grad program. Unfortunately that’s meant I haven’t been on here. But if anyone’s interested in my research on investment in clean energy let me know and I may post the presentation here for all to see!

It Beats In Perfect Time (Repost)

Your soul is a percussive instrument, beating and vibrating, keeping time with the wants and needs bouncing through your mind. You’re projecting, sending pulsing signals out into the world with every move you make, vibrations in colored solar flares to tell every soul what you seek, what they can help you find. We constantly meet and crash, impressing on one another the desires of each other. When my soul met yours it beat so perfectly in tune, moving in beat exactly with mine, complementing every move we made. There was no moment, no hesitation, only total realization. You were part of me and I was part of you, there’s never been another way it could be. Your soul is a percussive instrument and it beats in perfect time with mine.

This was posted in Nov 2017, just over a year ago. It’s not perfect but I’ve always liked it. The prompt of the day was percussive (I think).

The Subtlety of Dying (Repost)

This was originally posted in Sept 2017. I was working on something else that’s been floating around my head and started thinking about this. The prompt at the time was thorny, the RDP prompt today is brace

What did it feel like?
Dying I mean?
Was it cold?
Or wet?
Kind of like being born again?
Was it light,
Or dark?
Or maybe a bit of both?
Did you know then,
When it happened I mean?
Did you see God?
Heaven and Hell?
Or was it just space and time,
All melding together in one?

The sweet soul gives a wispy smile,
Dying, her voice echoes,
Well, I do remember that well.
Momma told us it would be ok,
It wouldn’t hurt at all.
But it was kinda like falling,
Your stomach flies to your throat
And down to your toes,
Except it’s all at once.
Then you land,
And it’s kinda like landing
In your grandmother’s old roses,
When you fly over the handlebars
For the very first time.
It’s all excitement and adrenaline.
That is until you land,
Then it’s kinda thorny.

Writer’s Cold … Stupid Plane/Traffic in LA

This is a repost of something I posted in Oct. 2017. I can’t think of anything right now, not even a de facto cute “I have a mild case of writer’s stuffiness (I won’t even call it block)” post.

Stupid Plane/Traffic in LA/Writer’s Block

There’s stuff in my head,
But it’s trapped,
Held together
By an epic roadblock.
Like the traffic in LA,
Which I would know about,
If I’d gotten on the stupid plane.
Wouldn’t you know it,
I love flying.
I love staring out the window,
Watching the world go by.
I think flying over the Italian Alps
Was my favorite so far.
But I still don’t like the traffic
In LA
I get frustrated every time I’m there,
And scream and curse at the weird
Random highway lights
(what’s the point, it’s all jacked up anyway)
Also, why is there a subway system,
If no one uses it?
I just don’t understand,
The traffic in LA,
Which I would have told you sooner
If I had gotten on the stupid plane.
